Hospitals in the Netherlands have admitted 301 patients with Covid-19 this past week, the lowest total since July 19. Hospital admissions have fallen by 20 percent compared to the previous seven-day period, according to figures from patient monitor LCPS which were updated on Monday.
An average of 43 patients were admitted each of the past seven days, including 10 sent to an intensive care unit. A week earlier, hospitals were accepting 54 patients daily, though the number of average ICU patient admissions remained the same.

The Netherlands: Fewer and fewer people in the Netherlands see themselves as meat-eaters - by Victoria Séveno
According to a recent survey, the number of people in the Netherlands who classify themselves as meat-eaters continues to decline, with a third of all households planning to cut their meat intake in 2021.
The Vegamonitor - an annual study published by non-profit organisation Natuur & Milieu - is designed to examine the eating habits of the people in the Netherlands and whether or not perspectives on different diets change over time. The 2021 study was conducted among more than 1.000 people.
Past studies have unveiled a trend towards eating less meat, but the trend has been slow to progress. Now, however, as everyone enters 2021, Natuur & Milieu found a “significant decrease” in the number of people who classify themselves as meat-eaters: 55 percent in 2021 compared to 59 percent a year earlier. Furthermore, 34 percent of households plan on eating less meat in the new year. 31 percent said they had taken this decision in order to preserve the planet for future generations.

The Netherlands: Covid-19 deaths and infections fall to lowest levels for eight weeks
he number of newly reported Covid-19 deaths in the Netherlands fell to
16 on Monday, the second day in a row that the figure has increased by
less than 20. The number of new infections dropped to 161, the lowest
level since March 14, while 36 more people were admitted to hospital,
the public health agency RIVM reported.
Delays in reporting at the weekend mean that figures on Monday tend to
be artificially low, causing a mini-spike in reported cases on Tuesdays.
The average death toll over the last seven days is 53, from a peak of
154 in the first week of April.
